Book Description
Thirty-one stories about the people, the places, and above all, the horses, that have made cutting the unique sport it is today.
About the Author
Sally Harrison has written three books about horses and horsepeople: Matlock Rose, The Horseman; The Cowboy Life of James L. Kenney; and Cutting: A Guide for the Non-Pro Competitor; as well as co-authoring Pride in the Dust.
Since Harrison began writing about horses in the early 1980s, she has had thousands of stories published in dozens of magazines. Her readers have found that Harrison’s curiosity, rigorous research and insight bring her subjects to life.
"I started writing about horses and people because I wanted to find out their stories myself," she says. "My goal has always been to write from a reader’s perspective, and never intrude on the material myself."
A nationally recognized equine photographer based in Arlington, Texas, Harrison has turned her lens on countless great racing and cutting horses of the last twenty years. As with her writing, the spirit of her subjects shines through her photos.
